You're a solo or 2-person SaaS founder. Content marketing is the only organic acquisition channel that fits your budget, yet it competes with a full-time workload and the code you still need to ship.
This post shows you my exact stack: 12 tools, a 4-step workflow, 8 automations that let me produce 10 posts a week in under 2 hours.
The SaaS founder problem
You have - - A product that needs constant iteration (20h/week) - Customer support (10h/week) - Sales and discovery calls (10h/week) - A growing 'I need to write this' backlog (LinkedIn, blog, newsletter, Twitter/X)
You're competing against - - Clients' content marketing agencies (budgets of $5,000-12,500/month) - Full-time content creators (who can post 5x a day) - AI-generated content spammers (who post 50x a day)
Your edge - - Unique product and industry knowledge - Founder-led authenticity - Access to real customers
How to turn that into a content marketing edge without stealing time from shipping code - that's what this post is about.
The 4-step workflow (2h a week)
Step 1 - Capture (30 min, spread across the week)
What - Collecting raw thoughts, observations, customer conversations. When - During work, on discovery calls, right after customer support. How - Voice notes (Otter.ai), a quick note (Obsidian), a screenshot (CleanShot X).
Rule - Don't filter. Collect everything. Filtering happens in Step 2.
Step 2 - Structure (60 min, Monday morning)
What - Picking the 5 best ideas from the week, structuring them into posts. When - Monday 8-9am (deep work slot). How - 1. I open 'Capture' in Obsidian (the week's ideas). 2. I pick the 5 with the most potential (emotion, controversy, uniqueness). 3. I feed each one into Claude / TextsForBusiness / GetContentPlan. 4. I generate 3 title/hook variants per idea. 5. I pick the winner and expand it into a 400-800 word draft.
Output - 5 drafts ready for editing.
Step 3 - Polish (30 min, Tuesday morning)
What - Human-editing the AI drafts, adding personal voice. When - Tuesday 7:30-8am. How - I read the draft, cut 30% (AI over-generates), add 2-3 concrete examples from my own experience, rewrite the hook.
Rule - If after reading the draft I think 'AI could have written this' - I rewrite the hook and the first paragraph.
Step 4 - Publish + Repurpose (15 min, right before publishing)
What - Publishing on the main platform, cross-posting to 2-3 others. When - Tuesday/Thursday 10am. How - - Main post: LinkedIn (long form). - Cross-post: Twitter/X (a 4-7 tweet thread from the same post). - Cross-post: Newsletter (once a week, a digest of the week's 3 posts). - Cross-post: blog post (every 2 weeks, I turn the best performer into a 1,500-word SEO post).
Output - 1 post × 4 channels = 10 units of content a week.
The tool stack (12 tools, 7 free)
Capture
1. Otter.ai ($10/mo, voice-to-text, discovery call transcripts) Every customer conversation is a potential blog post. Otter gives me searchable transcripts.
2. Obsidian (free, notes, linking, my 'second brain') All my notes, captures, drafts. The graph view shows me connections between ideas.
3. CleanShot X ($29 one-time, screenshots) Quick screenshots with examples (dashboards, competitor tweets, UX patterns).
4. Readwise ($8/mo, highlights from Kindle/articles) My highlights from books/newsletters as content inspiration.
Structure + Draft
5. Claude / ChatGPT / Gemini ($20/mo each, I rarely use all three) Claude for long-form (best quality), GPT for code-related content, Gemini for research.
6. TextsForBusiness ($8 one-time, generating descriptions, bios) For business descriptions, bios, meta text - faster than Claude for formulaic copy.
7. GetContentPlan ($9/mo, content plan + hook generator) Generates a personalized weekly plan + 20 hooks for my core content themes.
Polish
8. Grammarly (free tier is fine, $12/mo premium) Catches grammar issues in my writing.
9. Hemingway App (free web, $20 desktop one-time) Readability score. I aim for grade 7-9 (easy to read).
Publish + Repurpose
10. Buffer (free tier: 3 channels, $5/mo per channel premium) Post scheduling. The free tier is enough for a solo operator (LinkedIn + X + IG = 3 channels).
11. Typefully ($12/mo, LinkedIn + Twitter native editor) Composing and previewing LinkedIn and Twitter posts before publishing. Analytics included.
12. Beehiiv (free up to 2,500 subs, then $42/mo) Newsletter platform. Automatically cross-posts blog posts to subscribers.
Total stack cost (starter) - ~$50/month if you only use the essentials (Claude/ChatGPT + Buffer + Beehiiv). You can start for $20/mo (Claude + free tiers).
8 automations that buy me time
1. Customer support -> content idea pipeline
Tool - n8n (free, self-hosted) or Zapier (paid). How - A support email tagged 'question' -> n8n -> appended to my Obsidian 'content_ideas.md' note. Value - The top 20% of my blog posts come from real customer questions.
2. Discovery call transcript -> draft structure
Tool - Otter.ai + Claude API. How - Discovery call recording -> Otter transcript -> a Claude summarizer with the prompt 'extract 3 post ideas' -> emailed to me. Value - A 30-minute call = 3 ready post hooks.
3. Blog post -> LinkedIn long post
Tool - Claude + manual review. How - After publishing a blog post -> I paste it into Claude with the prompt 'condense to 1,200 characters for LinkedIn, preserving hook and CTA' -> minor edit -> post. Value - 5 minutes instead of 30 minutes of rewriting.
4. LinkedIn post -> Twitter thread
Tool - Claude + Typefully. How - LinkedIn post -> Claude with the prompt 'break into a 5-7 tweet Twitter thread, each under 280 characters, first tweet is a hook, last is a CTA' -> Typefully preview -> schedule. Value - 3 min/post.
5. A week of posts -> weekly newsletter
Tool - Beehiiv + manual curation. How - Friday evening: from my Obsidian 'week_recap.md' I add 3 highlight posts + 1 book recommendation + 1 personal update -> Beehiiv -> scheduled for Saturday 9am. Value - Newsletter subscriber retention is 6x higher than LinkedIn follower retention.
6. Best post -> long-form blog post
Tool - Claude + manual. How - A post with 100+ likes in the first 24h -> Claude with the prompt 'expand into a 1,500-2,000 word blog post, preserve the voice, add an FAQ section' -> I add edits + examples + screenshots. Value - SEO value from my best-performing content.
7. Blog post -> LinkedIn carousel
Tool - Canva + Claude. How - Blog post -> Claude with the prompt 'break into an 8-slide carousel, one concept per slide, 40-60 words max' -> Canva template -> export as PNG -> LinkedIn. Value - Carousels get 3-5x the reach of a plain text post.
8. Engagement monitoring -> priority inbox
Tool - Typefully + manual + a Slack notification. How - Post published -> a webhook fires into a Slack channel called 'content-alerts' -> I have to reply to every comment within 4h. Value - LinkedIn's algorithm aggressively boosts posts that get fast replies in the first 2 hours.
Realistic output from this stack (my numbers)
Monthly output - - 8-10 LinkedIn long posts - 4-6 blog posts (1,500-2,500 words) - 4 Twitter threads - 4 newsletter issues - 20-30 standalone tweets (between threads)
Time spent - 8-10h/month (= 2h/week).
The result after 6 months (real numbers from my own business) - - LinkedIn: 500 -> 3,200 followers - Newsletter: 0 -> 1,200 subs - Organic blog traffic: 0 -> 8,000 sessions/month - Inbound leads: 2/month -> 15/month
Anti-patterns (what does NOT work for SaaS founders)
1. Batch-producing 2 months of content in 1 weekend. Content disconnected from real, current observations loses its authenticity. You'll notice your posts 'don't land' after 2 weeks - because you wrote them before you had those insights.
2. Relying exclusively on AI (zero human edit). AI content can rank in Google. A founder's unique voice builds the brand and gives people a reason to follow.
3. Posting daily just to 'feed the algorithm.' 3 high-quality posts a week beats 7 mediocre ones. LinkedIn/X's algorithm punishes low engagement rate.
4. Writing about the product (direct promo). At most 20% of your posts should be about the product. 80% = education/insights/personal. Otherwise - unfollow.
5. Outsourcing content to an agency too early. Before product-market fit, the founder has to write the content and learn what resonates with the real ICP. Outsource once you're past $10k MRR.
FAQ
How do I find my voice as a founder? Publish daily for 30 days as an experiment, analyze which posts resonate, and let that evidence define your voice.
How much does the starter stack cost? Minimum $20/mo (Claude + Buffer free + Beehiiv free). My full setup: ~$55/mo.
Is LinkedIn dead for SaaS in 2026? LinkedIn still works for SaaS in 2026. The algorithm now rewards engagement quality, producing fewer viral hits and more substantive comments.
How do you deal with hate comments? I ignore them (zero reply) or respond with distance and humor. I NEVER argue. Unfollow/block only for personal attacks.
Do you post on weekends? I publish the newsletter on Saturday and leave Sunday free for recovery.
